Our Story

Hi, I’m Whitney MacLeod, and my journey with Border Collies began in my childhood, growing up in Kentucky. My grandparents had a loyal Border Collie named Sabrina, who left an unforgettable mark on my life. She was my Papaw’s dog, always at his side, and her intelligence, loyalty, and protective instincts inspired my lifelong love for this breed.

Although Kentucky was home, I always dreamed of living by the beach, a dream that led me to the Emerald Coast. I became a breeder because I am absolutely obsessed with Border Collies. They are, without a doubt, the most magnificent dogs, and I’m passionate about sharing their incredible qualities with other families.

My love for breeding was truly ignited by my first personal Border Collie, Aspen. Aspen has the most amazing personality—he’s intelligent, patient, playful, and never leaves my side, even following me to the bathroom every time! He spends his days lying at my feet while I work, but when it’s time to play, he’s all in. He’s obsessed with playing catch and adores children. When we visit family in Kentucky, Aspen keeps a watchful eye on my daughter, nieces, and nephews, following them around like a gentle babysitter. He escorts them back to the house one by one, ensuring they’re safe, and even herds them back together if they stray too far apart. His agility and care for them, even during play, shows the incredible instinct and gentleness that defines this breed.

 

The most rewarding part of breeding Border Collies is knowing that other families will experience this same incredible bond. Border Collies have an intelligence that almost feels like they understand you in full sentences. They’re not just dogs—they’re companions, shadows, and protectors who connect with you on a deep level.

At Emerald Breeze Coastal Collies, we raise our puppies in a loving, family-oriented environment. Our dogs are part of our family, alongside our children and cat, and the puppies are well-socialized from a young age. They’re exposed to all the important sights and sounds of home life—vacuums, dishwashers, and the everyday hustle. Positive reinforcement and play-based training are at the core of how we raise them.

Now, I’m proud to help other families bring these incredible dogs into their lives and experience the same joy and connection I’ve found with Aspen.
